Power: Yukiko has the ability to read surface thoughts. It’s not technically mind reading as it only is able to dig so far, she’s often times able to hear what people are thinking rather then see everything about them. She hardly realises her power is even there, considering she’s just starting out. Her telepathic abilities may grow as she gets older - and her caretaker thinks it may have something to do with her insomnia, but no one listens to him.

History: Yukiko Nakamura was born in Shinjuku-ku to Aiko Tokugawa and Tsuyoshi Nakamura on September 9th, 1994. She grew up in Tokyo staying within the Shinjuku prefecture mostly because of her father’s business state. She was accepted into the Shinno elementary school as it was easily accessed by the Tokyo-Metro Nanboku line and near the Shirokane Takanawa Station. Despite the fact it would have been better for them if Aiko moved with her daughter to enroll her in a better school, money wouldn’t allow.

She was a bright child, learning quickly (which her parents were thankful for) however her father discovered that she wasn’t exactly his child once she started to age. It wasn’t noticeable at first considering her jet-black hair and her facial structure and skin tone, however on closer inspection her father discovered her eyes were a rather dark blue colour instead of the normal black or brown. He brought it up with Aiko and she denied it for months until they took Yukiko in for a blood test they disguised as a regular check up. The test came back within a few weeks and it showed he was not the father of the child.

The news of this never got out, considering that Yukiko was never picked on in school for being only half Japanese. She was like everyone else, thankful to her parents, but they knew better. Yukiko learned the basic subject’s school learning; including English however she isn’t very good at English. She struggles with it and often times uses the wrong word or phrase, but she is trying to get better at it. Sachiko, one of her close friends, tends to help her a lot despite her English not being much better, but its most defiantly better then Yukiko’s.

Her mother and father started to fight because of the situation with Yukiko not being his daughter while she was at school. After near three months of fighting it hit a climax, and they decided in order to settle the issue out without their daughter suffering, they would send her off to America. They contacted several of their relatives in Japan, the last being her grandmother Satomi in Hokkaido. She agreed, only to decline a week later because she was admitted to the hospital and was worried she would have to leave Yukiko alone for long periods at a time. They finally turned to her Aunt Juri Tachikawa who lived in America. Juri didn’t wish to take on the burden of her brother’s daughter, but after a brief visit to Japan Juri accepted and despite Yukiko’s want to staying Japan with her parents because she didn’t understand what was happening.

She arrived late in the afternoon a few days later at the airport in Reno, Nevada. Her aunt told her to get comfortable for the ride back as it was a two hour ride to her house. Around seven in the evening she was welcomed into her aunts Lake Tahoe home in California. Yukiko actually started to like it as soon as she started making friends in the area. The lake was clean and beautiful, the air was fresh, and she really enjoyed seeing the stars at night. Of course that was when she picked up a rather odd sleeping schedule. Her aunt seemed to only be awake at night and Yukiko had trouble finding proper things to eat in the house. Juri began to buy her what she needed at night, and Yukiko had to learn to fend for herself during the night. She met with her aunts good friends, a man named Louis, another named Jed, and a young woman named Laura, who would often come by and help take care of her.

Jed was rather fond of her, and often times would dress her up like a doll but she never thought of it that way. She loved the clothes he brings her and has a rather odd fascination with Victorian clothing and corsets because of him. Yukiko remembered the Goth Lolita style from Japan, and wondered often if that was what Jed was trying to replicate. She’s yet to ask him though.

Yukiko started suffering from an extreme case of insomnia about a year later causing her health to deteriorate at a fast pace. Juri had to contact a human doctor who quickly prescribed a medication to help her sleep, but he said that she would have to once again get used to a normal sleeping schedule. Juri was not pleased with the situation, but she complied and started to force the girl to rest at night so she could wake in the morning. She started to go to a normal school instead of learning under a tutor, but it was better for her this way - she picked up on English quicker. Jed started to insist that he speak English to her as well, and while Juri approved, Louis didn’t seemed too fond of the idea. Yukiko continued to take the medicine, but the prescription was strengthened as she was beginning to build up resistance to it.

It was then she started to hallucinate - or what she thought was hallucinate. She approached Juri asking why she was hearing other peoples thoughts, but she explained she thinks it was just the medication playing tricks on her mind. However...it wasn’t until Yukiko ask why she had called her a stupid child Juri realised it wasn’t the medication at all: Yukiko was a telepath, even if she was just starting out. Juri worried she would discover her nature, as well as the others who started to live with her and sent her off to Meillure Academy under the name “Luna Tachikawa”. Juri was attempting a more American name as normally all American names sounded rather weird to her (she knew someone by the name of Ruby once so Luna was not too much different). This sealed her fate, and she had been officially kidnapped from her parents. Juri sent Jed to look after her, but Yukiko hasn’t a clue that he’s living in Boston, just that he drops by every few months or so with clothes just in case she out grows hers or would like something new to wear.

Any personality quirks not listed above: Yukiko has trouble expressing emotions as none are expressed around her, or at least not in front of her. Sometimes when she tries too hard she over exaggerates them. She’s shy, quite, but tends to try and act like a normal thirteen year old girl. She likes dressing in pretty things, but she doesn’t like heavy amounts of make up, but she thinks it makes her less of a girl. Yukiko tends to not talk about her family life as she doesn’t wish to explain that her parents gave her to her aunt and her friends. It would be rather odd, she thinks. She also keeps forgetting that she can’t give out her real name so her introductions, whether in Japanese or English, so she introduces herself as Yukiko Nakamura instead of Luna Tachikawa. Yukiko has a tendency to talk to herself, but she hardly notices because it’s normally no louder then a whisper and it appears as if she’s singing to herself. She can sing but she’s still rather undeveloped as a singer but she’s really looking for ways to improve. When she writes her journal entries they come off as a bit more formal then it should, but her knowledge of writing English has only been formal writing.

In-depth appearance: Yukiko used to have really long black hair, however she recently had it cut short. It touches the end of her cheek bones but she often times wears hair extensions with her outfits unless she’s feeling particulaly lazy then she merely brushes it back. She has rather pale skin from not being in the sun very often, but with her starting to go to school during the day she may start getting the pigment back in her skin, but she rather likes the pale white colour. She tends to use very little makeup, and when she does she loves using eyeliner to highlight her dark blue eyes, black mascara to bring out some colour and using pastel eye shadows to exaggerate her face some. Yukiko has a fond love of lipstick but almost always uses a really dark red upon her lips that actually compliments her skin tone - she hates the bright reds, and thinks they make her look like a whore.

She’s fairly frail, but she isn’t underweight. Her body is rather underdeveloped and while she’s hit puberty in some sense she hasn’t filled out like most girls do in America at her age. Her waist appears to be rather thin as she’s been wearing corsets the last year from her close friend Jed. She has a few freckles on her arms, but they’re really only noticeable if she isn’t wearing a long sleeved shirt or dress which is fairly often. She has a fascination with the Gothic Lolita style and is often times seen wearing them after school and on the weekends, as well as the old style Victorian fashion. She is never seen without some sort opaque stockings or loose socks on even if it doesn’t match her school uniform as she’s uncomfortable showing them off. Yukiko’s confident in herself in some sense, but she finds it doesn’t take much.

Any weaknesses not listed above: She often times suffers from insomnia when she doesn’t take her medicine, and her lack of understanding of emotions makes her a rather easy target, however it’s not much of a weakness. Her telepathy often times causes her grief, giving her headaches, making her paranoid, and sometimes overloading her senses and causing her to pass out. Combined with her insomnia it’s starting to cause her health issues. Part of the reason is that she’s not getting enough protine in her body from the lack of meat - she really can’t stand the taste and finds it disgusting. She has no body strength at all and easily is hurt by physical force, but attempts at emotional damage are most harmful. While she doesn’t understand it right now, it does slowly deteriorate her mental process as she’s always thinking about it - and it doesn’t help when she can hear those thoughts you don’t want her to hear.
